Dr Beatrice's Story
Life
My parents came to this country with nothing and from their hard work I gained everything. Every dream I have ever dreamed has come true a hundred times. I am a physician now. I have been blessed; I am so fortunate. Many people crossed my path and intertwined their influence on my life. If you are reading this, then you know who you are. I am forever grateful. Sincerely, Bea Aguado
School
I was not the most apt pupil. I honestly didn't learn anything that I ever needed in hs. (Go ahead. Ask me to diagram a sentence or perform a square root by hand.) At every opportunity, I cut class with ambition. I did't care; I thought it irrelevant. I was bored. It was painful. I would have liked for it to have been different, that I loved it.
College
I was a college tourist. Started at New Me...Expand for more
xico Military Institute. After scrubbing the latrines with a toothbrush in orientation, I was like "I am out of here!" Then, Wilbur Wright College, which I loved. Next, Loyola for ROTC classes through UIC. Then, Chaminade University (U of Honolulu) where I studied History/Political Science/ & Behavioral Science, then Northeastern for Biochemistry and some other nonsense. Took some additional Anatomy at Triton. Came full circle and eventually taught at Wright. Then, somehow ended up at the University of Illinois College of Medicine -- go figure!
Military schools were exciting, college was fun and the discipline that is medicine is a never-ending challenge. It holds me in utter fascination. I thank God I found a subject that leaves me striving to learn all that I can to aid my fellow man.
